PMP has added to the firepower of its Paris office with the recruitment of Joël Plat, a retail and digital expert, and a former executive director at Apple Retail. Joël now holds the position of Managing Partner and is part of PMP’s digital transformation and customer experience management teams.
“It is a firm that is a great fit for me, a firm that works hand in hand with its clients, that is results-oriented and that pays attention to the performance and development of its staff. With innovative methodologies, an international dynamic and ambitious growth in several sectors, PMP is re-inventing and modernising the concept of strategic consulting”, notes Joël Plat, following his first few weeks’ work at PMP.
With his Marketing & Strategy Masters from the Paris School of Political Science (Sciences Po) and his 25 years as a retail executive, Joël Plat is now one of the firm’s big hitters.
Before joining PMP, Joël held the position of Commercial Director of Apple France for five years. He was in charge of growth strategy, sales, international operational marketing and customer experience management. Amongst his achievements were building Apple France’s B2B growth strategy, managing the opening of conventional stores and of flagship stores in France, and recruiting and training multicultural international teams. He also took part in the international roll-out of new services and contributed to the diversification and to the growth of business done with intermediate-sized enterprises, with educational establishments and with government agencies.
Before that, he was entrusted with the jobs of Consumer Products Supply Chain Director at the Carrefour retail group, of Deputy Managing Director at Jardiland (garden centres), and then with the job of Managing Director at Krys the opticians.
“We are delighted that Joël is joining us. His expertise in retail and in digital, and more broadly his senior management experience, will be an asset to PMP. The thing with Joël was above all about meeting a person with very similar values to PMP’s, who wants to bring new concepts to the market and to co-develop new offerings with our clients”, says Gilles Vaqué, PMP’s Chair and a Managing Partner.
In addition to his role assisting senior management teams, Joël Plat is also an Associate Professor and a co-director of the Distribution, Retailing and Customer Relations Masters programme at Paris Dauphine University. He teaches retail strategy, supply chain management and marketing and sales innovation there. He also teaches product innovation at the Paris School of Political Science.
